CREATING A SCHOOL SAFETY PLAN
Schools are receiving more and more inquiries about the security and safety plans that are in place, beyond fire drills. Following many high profile school violence incidents, staff, families, and students want to know that they are safe.
This workshop will assist you in identifying possible risk areas with practical risk reduction ideas:
- School relationships with first responders and community organizations
- Communicating effectively with parents and the media during a crisis
- IRT and school staff roles during emergency situations
- Preparing for drills (lock-downs, evacuations, lockout, student and staff tracking)
- Emergency kits will also be addressed
You will finish the workshop with a draft of a safety plan to take back and continue working on. You are encouraged to bring any current plan that your school is using.
When: Saturday Morning (9:00pm – 12:30pm)
Where: Room 204
